The Saurashtra region was lashed by incessant rains following a deep depression over the Arabian Sea which crossed the state's coast and moved further inside, throwing life out of gear in many districts.
However, the depression is likely to become weak in the next 24 hours, Gujarat's MeT department said today.
Meanwhile, vessel M V Coastal Pride, caught amid the rough seas, sent a distress call to Coast Guard which rescued 14 crew members of the ship which sank off Umargaon coast.
The ship had sailed from Porbandar and was heading to Mumbai. However, due to rough seas it gave a distress call to the Coast Guard, after which helicopters were pressed into service to save 14 crew members, ICG PRO Hemant Ahuja said.
The heavy rains following the depression disrupted normal life in Gir Somnath, Amreli, Junagadh and Rajkot district of Saurashtra region.
The dams of Saurashtra region received fresh stock of water which has largely solved the drinking water problem in the area.

In Rajkot, District Education Officer Chetna Vyas directed the authorities in low lying areas not to run schools in the afternoon shift.
The Bhadar dam in Rajkot was overflowing as it received 10 feet of water stock, officials at the district control room said, adding that it will solve the drinking water problems of Rajkot city for a year.
The Rawal and Ozat dams in Junagadh were also overflowing and authorities have put villages and nearby towns on alert.
