"Sayeed was a leader with remarkable political acumen and a statesman who had made rich contribution towards political firmament spanning several decades. He endeared all by his amiable disposition and was deeply concerned with the welfare of the people.
"His contribution towards the growth and development of Jammu and Kashmir will be remembered in times to come," Lt Gen Dua said.
The Corps Commander also met PDP president and Sayeed's daughter Mehbooba Mufti and conveyed heartfelt condolences on behalf of the soldiers of Chinar Corps to the members of the bereaved family.
