Lawyers of Madras high court have decided to remain abstain from attending the court proceeding on February 19 and 20 in protest against CBI's failure to identify police personnel involved in lathicharge on advocates in the court complex in 2009.
The protest by the members of Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHCAA) would also be to press for filling up of vacancies of judges in the high court.
A resolution adopted at the general body meeting of the association chaired by MHCAA President RC Paul Kanagaraj today resolved to abstain from courts and other tribunals on February 19 in connection with the violent incidents in the high court complex and the next day to press its demand for filling vacancies of judges.
It condemned the CBI for not identifying police personnel and arraigning them as accused in connection with "the assault on judiciary" on February 19, 2009.
Several persons, including a judge of the high court, were injured in a clash between the police and lawyers on the court premises.
