Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister Mohammed Arif Naseem Khan today demanded that the late poet and social reformer Annabhau Sathe be conferred prestigious Bharat Ratna.
Khan said he had written to the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, saying that Sathe was an accomplished poet as well as a social reformer, whose contribution to the Dalit literature was unparallelled.
The minister said he had also requested Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan to make a recommendation on behalf of the state government in this regard.
