A visiting Malaysian minister tendered an apology here today after an incorrect depiction of an Indian map in his presentation at a business event showed PoK as part of Pakistan that triggered strong protests from a section of the audience.
"Sorry for that. There is no excuse for Malaysia not to know India well, especially for me who has come here so many times. My humble apologies," Malaysian Minister for Trade and Industry Dato Sri Mustapa Mohamed said. The map used during the minister's presentation showed Pakistan-occupied Kashmir(PoK) as part of Pakistan.
Mohamed was giving a presentation on 'Re-energising Malaysia-India Economic Relations' at an event organised by industry body Ficci here. He also met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman.
He is leading a delegation comprising 40 business representatives from 31 companies belonging to sectors like building and construction, oil & gas, finance, telecom, aviation, IT & education, among others.
