Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal today appointed former cabinet minister and party's Bathinda district unit president Sikander Singh Maluka as chief of the SAD Kisan Wing.
Badal was confident that party core committee member Maluka would infuse new energy in the party's Kisan wing due to his vast knowledge of the agrarian crisis in Punjab, according to a release.
The party president asked Maluka to form his team and reach out to the farmers who were "suffering" due to the Congress government's failure to implement its loan waiver promise, the statement added.
