Continuing attack on Congress for joining hands with the Left in the assembly elections, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today appealed to the people to bring in a change in Murshiadabad district, the stronghold of state Congress president Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
"We used to say that Congress and CPI(M) have became one but no one believed it then. If Trinamool Congress was not formed, the Left could not have been ousted from power in Bengal," she told an election meeting here in Murshidabad district.
Stating that 55,000 Congress workers were killed by CPI(M), she said, "Congress leaders have sold them out to CPI(M). They should be ashamed. They don't have the confidence in themselves. They have become Cong-red. Trinamool Congress alone is enough," she said and appealed to the people to bring in a change.
"Congress is saying CPI(M) zindabad and CPI(M) is saying Congress zindabad," she said accusing them of "conspiring" against TMC.
Turning to yesterday's first phase election in 18 constituencies which had recorded a heavy turnout of 81 per cent, she said, "It was a vote against Congress, CPIM and BJP."
Referring to BJP, Banerjee alleged that "they don't do anything except creating rift among the people.
