The girl, a resident of Thinda village, was raped by Harpreet Singh alias Mangat Ram in adjoining Behbalpur village last evening, they said.
In her complaint, the victim's mother claimed that she was informed by a neighbour that Harpreet had taken his daughter to a farming field in Behbalpur yesterday.
She along with some other residents of the village rushed to Behbalpur and found the girl in the field.
On the complaint made by the victim's mother, a case was registered against Harpreet and he was later arrested, police said.
