Man arrested for sexually abusing minor Dalit girl

The police today arrested a 28-year-old man on charges of sexually abusing a minor Dalit girl and also blackmailing her after taking nude pictures on a mobile phone.
Subhash Swain, who had allegedly committed the crime on October 12, had fled from native Badaghai village under Marsaghaui police station in order to evade arrest, police said.
The victim, a class X student of a nearby high school, had fallen into the trap laid by the accused who had promised to marry her.
The girl's parents in their FIR alleged that the youth took nude pictures of their daughter and threatened to post it on the Internet to cover up his crime.

However, the girl mustered courage and informed her parents about the alleged sexual abuse, inspector in-charge of Marshaghai police station Sukant Kumar Patra said.
The arrested was sent to jail after a court rejected his bail plea, the police said.
