Man dies in suspected wild elephant attack

A man died in a suspected attack by wild elephants on the city outskirts, police said today.

The body of the man, in his mid-30s, was found with injury marks, indicating attack by elephants, they said.

Forest officials spotted pugmarks of an elephant and its calf -- at the spot on the banks of Noyyal River.

The man, yet to be identified, was said to be mentally deranged and was seen roaming in the area in the last two days, police said.
