The camera placed at a place in Kundachappai village, about 20 kms from here, where a carnivore, suspected to be a tiger, killed three persons recently, captured an image of the animal drinking water from a stream, some 200 metres away from the village.
According to Forest department sources, it was also noticed that the animal has slight limping.
Six special teams, which include tranquillisers, shooters and a dog squad, have gone inside the forest to trap the animal.
Since the tiger has not come to the village for the last three days, it was suspected that the animal could have fatigued without any food or its movement was hampered due to injuries, the sources said.
The animal had killed three persons, including two women.
