Man gets life term for raping minor daughter, impregnating her

A man has been awarded life term for repeatedly raping his minor daughter and impregnating her, with a Delhi court observing that he has not only ruined her body and soul but the remaining part of her life as well.
"The sacrosanct relationship of father and daughter has been demolished by the convict by his acts. If a father who protects and nurtures his children turns into their tormentor, there is no place on earth for those children to seek shelter. The convict has not only ruined the body and soul of victim but also ruined her remaining life. No amount of compensation and words of solace can calm her down," Additional Sessions Judge Sanjay Sharma-I said.

The court held the 37-year-old man, a Delhi resident, guilty of raping and threatening to kill his 11-year-old daughter, and sentenced him to rigorous life imprisonment.
The court, while sentencing the man to life, said the severity of his offence had "doubled" as he had raped the victim for the first time when she was 11 years old and the last time when she became pregnant at the age of 14.
"For these dastardly acts, he deserves no sympathy or leniency," the judge said.
According to the prosecution, a complaint was lodged by the girl and her mother in 2012, when the victim was 14 years old, alleging that she was repeatedly raped and impregnated by her father in their house.

The daughter alleged that she was raped by her father first when she was 11-year-old in the absence of her mother. He had threatened to kill her if she disclosed the incident to anyone. Thereafter, he continued to rape her.
In June 2012, she disclosed the incident to her mother and both of them lodged an FIR at a police station here.
During the trial, the man denied the allegations levelled against him.
