A man was arrested at the international airport here for allegedly carrying two gold biscuits worth Rs 54 lakh.
Meethal Nizar (48), a resident of Kozhikode in Kerala, was intercepted near the exit gate by the Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) team of the Mumbai Customs, led by Rishi Yadav, after he landed from Dubai, sources said.
The gold biscuits weighed two kgs, they said.
The arrest came in the wake of the ongoing crackdown by the Customs on flyers who evade duty on imported goods, especially gold.
The authorities had seized 7 kgs of gold worth around Rs 2 crore in last one week.
