A man has been arrested for allegedly cutting the saplings planted by noted actor Sayaji Shinde at a village in Satara district, police said today.
The accused, identified as Appa Madane, is a resident of Pandharwadi village in Mann tehsil of Satara district, they said.
According to police, the actor had planted around a thousand saplings during last monsoon, of which some 100 plants were found axed.
A complaint had been registered in this regard against an unidentified person.
The actor had earlier said he had chosen the village as he was told that it was one of the least rainfall receiving villages in the state and wanted to develop a green cover.
