According to police, the girl was rescued on Friday night from a village in the Sarghana area by officials of a local child line organisation after they were notified about her alleged sexual abuse by her father.
"It is alleged that the girl's father kept raping her for six months. The girl approached the principal of her school, who in turn took up the matter with child line officials," police said.
On the basis of a statement by the girl, a case has been registered under Section 176 of IPC and POCSO Act against her father who, police said, was placed under arrest today.
Meanwhile, Sarghana police station in-charge Mehar Singh said that a medical examination of the victim has confirmed rape.
