Based on a tip-off, Danish Ahmad (30) was arrested from Krishna Nagar area yesterday. He was evading arrest since 2013, police said.
During interrogation, the accused confessed that he cheated several persons including one Taiyyab Ali by making them deposit money while alluring with the promise of giving hefty profits in return.
"After giving two-three instalments he used to shift to another place. In 2013, Taiyyab Ali got a criminal case registered against him," Dy Commissioner of Police (East District) B S Gurjar said.
"Apart from this, he has given Rs 30,00,000 to his father-in-law and spent the rest in buying luxury vehicles. Danish told that his whole family is aware about the cheatings he made and helped him in this regard," police said.
