A 36-year-old man was murdered allegedly by his elder brother, who later 'committed suicide' by jumping in front of a train, police said here today.
Senior Superintendent of Police Nitin Tiwari (SSP) said Ashraf (45) and his younger brother Afzal were residents Bindu Chowk in Khan Alampur under Janakpuri police station.
The wives of the duo had a tiff over some minor issue yesterday. Enraged over the incident, Ashraf allegedly killed Afzal by slitting his throat while the latter was asleep last night, Tiwari said.
Their youngest brother lodged an FIR in this connection against Ashraf, his wife Saida and son Muzizmal, the SSP said.
When police arrived at the crime scene, the trio had already fled from the home, Tiwary said, adding Ashraf's body was later found on the railway tracks.
It appears that after murdering his brother, Ashraf allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train, Tiwary said.
Both the bodies have been sent for post-mortem and police were searching for the accused, he added.
