Though the incident took place 28 days ago, the police today recovered the decomposed body of the father identified as Jagannath Bag (65).
The matter came to light when the neighbours drew attention of the police about Jagannath not seen for many days.
The deceased man's son Navidutta (35) was absconding, police said adding that the motive of the crime was not yet ascertained.
On the night of January 2 there was altercation between them and being reprimanded by his father the furious son allegedly murdered his father by a sharp edged weapon, police said.
