A man and his niece drowned in Ganga river at Narora, 70 Km from here, while taking a dip, police said.
The incident occurred this forenoon when Rupendra (30) from Aligarh was bathing in the river. He saw his niece Kumkum (14) being carried away by a heavy current of water and tried to save her, they said.
On hearing shrieks of the duo, fishermen tried to pull them out. However, both drowned, police officials said.
The bodies were later fished out by the fishermen, they added.
