The main accused, Puspendra, and his family demanded Rs 2 lakh as dowry from Sanjeev Kumar, who had fixed his sister's marriage with him, they said.
Kumar registered a case against the accused and his family under the Dowry Act for refusing to marry on the basis of non-payment of dowry. Following this, police lodged an FIR in the matter yesterday, Station officer, Kotwali city, Ghanshyam Singhsaid.
The marriage was fixed on November 25, he added.
