A man was waylaid allegedly by a gang of carjackers near the airport here and robbed of a brand new car this afternoon, police said.
The victim was waiting to pick up the car owner's son when the accused abducted him at gunpoint and started driving the vehicle, the police said.
On the victim's complaint a case has been registered at Delhi Cantonment Police Station and a manhunt has been launched to nab the accused.
In his complaint, the driver, Jeevan Yadav, told the police that he had gone to the airport around 3 pm to pick up the businessman's son and had parked the car on the loop near NH-8 ahead of the domestic terminal of the airport.
Yadav claimed that when he was cleaning the windshield of the car a man pointed a pistol and pushed him inside the vehicle. He said that two other men also entered the vehicle and started driving it.
After almost 30 minutes, they dumped the driver near Hari Nagar Ghanta Ghar and drove away, police said,
A CCTV camera near the Ghanta Ghar captured the scene where the men are seen pushing the driver out of the vehicle.
Police suspect the role of gangsters based out of Haryana in the incident.
The complainant said that the black coloured vehicle had a temporary numberplate registered in Haryana. His mobile phone was also inside the car, the location of which is being tracked, police said.
