The police said that the accused--Vinod Kumar (40) and Pradeep Singh (24), both residents of Delhi's Nihar Vihar area--wanted to run an extortion racket gang like the ones operating in Najafgarh and outer Delhi.
To execute their plan, they wanted to arrange for weapons, police said.
On May 18, they robbed a single barrel 12 bore gun and 10 live cartridges from a security guard, Ram Prakash Singh, when he was going for his duty.
"After receiving a tip-off, a police team zeroed on the movements of alleged persons on May 21 and apprehend Kumar and Singh. The police have recovered the single barrel 12 bore gun and two live cartridges and five used cartridges.
Verma said other members of the gang are still at large and added that investigation was underway.
