On April 7, Harikishan approached police with a complaint that jewellery had been stolen from his house.
It was found that the DVRs of the CCTV cameras installed inside the house were missing and it was suspected that someone known to the family could have carried out the theft, they said.
During investigation, CCTV footage of the surrounding area was examined and the needle of suspicion went towards the complainant's son-in-law named Love, police said.
He was interrogated and it was found that he had carried out the theft.
"The accused disclosed that he wanted to earn more money in a short span of time. On April 6, he invited his wife's family for dinner. At about 10.15 PM, he left the house on the pretext of bringing ice cream and committed the theft at his father in law's house," Shahdara DCP Nupur Prasad said.
Police has recovered 800 grams of the stolen jewellery items including diamond rings and bracelets.
