Sanjay Tiwari claimed that his daughter, a class IX student, was missing for the past five days but there was no response from the police.
Tiwari who works as a painter in Guba Garden area of Kalyanpur alleged that Sonu, son of his wife's sister, has cajoled his daughter and taken her to some unknown location on September 7, police said.
He then posted on FB his photo and a banner detailing the girl's personality requesting people to help him trace her.
SP (Rural) Surendra Tiwari said the father was called to the police station last night and an FIR was registered against Sonu.
He said a police team is being sent to Barabanki to nab the accused.
"We will be able to find the details after we interrogate the accused," the SP said.
