Man trampled by elephants

A villager was trampled by elephants, who destroyed eight houses at Banso in Giridih district, the forest department source said today.
A herd of elephants, which entered the areas in Pirtand police station a week ago, killed Lalu Hansda, destroyed the houses and carried away sacks filled with paddy and other food items last night, the sources said.
The department gave Rs 1.05 lakh to the widow of Hansda, they said here.
