A man and his two daughters sustained serious burns after a relative attacked them with acid in Bulandshahr's Pahasu town, the police said today.
Mahendra, while returning from the fields with his daughters last evening, was passing by the house of his maternal brother Babloo when he heard the scream's of his cousin's wife, Sapna, Superintendent of Police (City) Praveen Ranjan said.
When Mahendra went inside, he saw that Babloo, in an inebriated condition, was beating Sapna, he said.
Mahendra intervened and saved Sapna, following which an infuriated Babloo threw acid at his brother and nieces, the SP said.
All three sustained 70 percent burns and were rushed to Aligarh for treatment, Ranjan said.
Babloo is absconding and a case has been registered against him, he said.
