The incident, which had taken place last month, had rocked Nadiad town in Kheda district as the accused - Masum Mahida - is a Muslim, while the victim, 21, is a Hindu girl.
According to ATS officials, the accused, a resident of Nadiad, had allegedly abducted the girl on June 11 on the pretext of marrying her.
When the incident came to light, locals as well as many social and religious organisations had staged rallies and demonstrations in the town and called for a 'bandh' on several occasions, demanding prompt police action, an ATS release said.
"Today, based on a specific tip-off, our staff kept a watch at Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad and nabbed Mahida. He is a bootlegger and several cases have been registered against him. We also found the girl with him," an ATS official said.
The ATS later handed over Mahida to Nadiad police for further probe, the release said.
