Man with alleged ISI lanks arrested in city

The Special Task Force (STF) unit of Kolkata Police today arrested one person from the central part of the city for his alleged links with Pakistan's ISI.
The suspected ISI agent, Akhtar Khan (51) alias Mohammed Javed alias Raju was arrested from the Colootola area near CR Avenue in Jorashanko police station limits at around 6.55 pm, a senior officer of the STF said.
"We got an information that a person was working in the city on an espionage and arrested him this evening," the officer said.
Besides, several illegal documents, fake Indian currency note (FICN) with the face value of Rs 1,72,500 were seized from Akhtar, who has been working as a bartender in the city, the officer said.
Asked whether the arrested person is a Pakitan citizen or is from the city, the STF officer said, "He can be a Pakistani but it's still under investigation... We are going through his documents."
According to a top source in the STF, Akhtar could also have fled to Pakistan in the 80s and returned to the city in 2008 after undrgoing training there.
"Though it's not clear, since 2008, Akhtar has been travelling to different states of India. For several times, he has also travelled to Bangladesh," the STF officer said.
Akhtar has been booked under IPC sections 120B, IPC 121, IPC 121A, IPC 122, IPC 489B, IPC 489C.
