The encounter took place in Dhabi area in the district when CRPF dispatched four teams from 205 CoBRA battalion and one company from its 153 battalion after getting a tip-off about the presence of some Maoists in the area.
"We had received intelligence inputs regarding presence of a group of Maoists including Sandeep Yadav alias Kaushalji. This group was involved in the torching of 32 vehicles on National Highway-2 on the Gaya-Aurangabad stretch on May 25," a senior CRPF official said.
Search in the area was still going on and efforts were on to trace those extremists who might have fled.
