The film, to be directed by JC Chandor, is the true story account of the devastating 2010 BP oil spill, reported Deadline.
The incident occurred on April 20, 2010 when a gas release and subsequent explosion occurred on the Deepwater Horizon oil rig working on the Macondo exploration well for British Petroleum (BP) company in the Gulf of Mexico.
The script for the film is written by Matthew Sand and Matthew Carnahan.
