The 47-year-old star is all geared up to appear in the movie both written and directed by Harmony Korine, reported Variety.
The movie follows the misadventures of Moondog, a rebellious and lovable rogue who lives life large.
Korine adds that the film will be a riot and there was no other actor than McConaughey more suited for the role.
"'The Beach Bum' will be a wild, audacious ride! And I can't think of anyone better than Matthew McConaughey to play our hero Moondog, a rebellious charmer in this fast-paced, uplifting and irreverent comedy," said the director.
