Mean age at marriage rises in various economic activities in

Showing a positive trend, the mean age at marriage of India's population engaged in various categories of economic activities, including agriculture labourers, has increased in past decade.
According to a census report of 2011 released today, the mean age at marriage for male cultivators has increased to 22.5 years during 2001-2011 from 21.5 years in the previous decade. The mean age at marriage of female cultivators has gone up to 18.6 years in 2011 from 17.6 years in 2001.
The mean age at marriage for male agricultural labourers has gone up to 22.5 years in 2011 from 21.8 years a decade ago. Similarly, the mean age for female agricultural labourers has increased to 18.5 years in 2011 from 17.7 years in 2001.

For marginal workers, the mean age at marriage for men has gone up to 22.5 years in 2011 from 21.8 years a decade ago and women marginal workers increased to 18.7 years in 2011 from 17.6 years 2001.
However, the mean age at marriage of male domestic workers has gone down to 23.4 years in 2011 from 23. 7 years in 2001 and for female workers has also gone down to 19.1 years in 2011 from 19.5 years in 2001.
For the male main workers, the mean age at marriage has gone up to 23.5 years in 2011 from 22.6 years in 2001 and female main workers has gone up to 19.2 years in 2011 from 18.2 yearsin 2001.

For non-workers, the mean age at marriage for male has gone up to 23.5 years in 2011 from 22.8 years in 2001 and for female non-workers has gone up to 19.4 years in 2011 from 18.5 years in 2001.
