Mercury rises again in national capital

After a brief respite from sweltering heat due to intermittent rains, hot and humid conditions returned to haunt Delhiites today with mercury rising to 43.3 degree Celsius, which was four degrees above normal.
The night too was considerably hot as minimum temperature was recorded at 32 degree Celsius which was four notches above normal.
According to MeT department, humidity levels were recorded between 59 and 33 per cent during the day.
While the day temperature of 43.3 degree Celsius was recorded at Safdarjung observatory, considered as the official reading for the national capital, temperatures at other observatories neared the 45 degree Celsius mark.

At Palam, the maximum temperature was recorded at 44.8 degree Celsius, at Ayanagar it was 44 degree Celsius while at Ridge it settled at 42.8 degree Celsius.
There was no rain in any part of the national capital today till 5:30 PM.

Intermittent showers from Thursday to Saturday had given Delhiites respite from the extremely hot and dry conditions which persisted from June 3 to June 9 when temperature hovered around the 45 degrees-mark. The rain, however, has caused humidity levels to increase.
The weatherman has predicted a partly cloudy sky tomorrow.
"Thundery conditions could occur in some areas and maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to settle around 41 and 31 degree Celsius," he said.

Yesterday, maximum temperature of 41.2 degree Celsius and minimum of 30.6 degree Celsius were recorded in the city.
