Mohammad Sahazad,who was working at an under-construction building, entered a near-by house and raped the girl when she was alone yesterday, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Hazaribagh rural) Ratneswar Thakur told reporters here.
Her mother had gone to a doctor when the man committed the crime, Thakur said.
Police have launched raids to nab the absconding mason after the girl's mother registered an FIR with the Icchak police station.
The girl was sent for medical examination, Thakur said.
This was the second incident of rape during the last one week in Hazaribagh and fourth in the last fortnight in Jharkhand.
