Mizoram's social welfare department would be split into two, with the new unit to be named as women and child development department, the state Assembly was told today.
to a query from Lalruatkima of the Mizo National Front (MNF), Urban Development Minister Zodintluanga, who replied in the absence of the Social Welfare Minister P Lalthanliana, said that the social welfare department would also be renamed as social welfare and tribal affairs department.
Zodintluanga said that the department has been looking after eight observation homes situated in all the eight districts of the state, besides 11 de-addiction centres.
