The villagers today blocked the traffic and held demonstration in Madiyahon area, alleging that police were not taking any action against the owner of the bus, which mowed down two youths, as he was a brother-in-law of a Samajwadi Party MLA.
When police resorted to lathi-charge to clear the road blockade, the villagers went on rampage and set afire the vehicles of the sub-divisional magistrate and an inspector along with a roadways bus.
Two youths, Mahesh Gupta (19) and Pappu (17), succumbed to their injuries today after they were hit by a bus on the Mirzapur-Jaunpur road yesterday.
