Moderate rains in North India, 2 killed in J-K

Incessant rainfall in Jammu and Kashmir caused heavy damage to some houses leading to the death of a mother-daughter duo even as parts of North India received moderate showers today.
With rains evading Delhi, the national capital witnessed a sultry weather condition.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 35 degrees Celsius, a notch above normal, while the minimum was 25.3, a deg C below normal, MeT Department said.
In Tral area of south Kashmir's Pulwama district, Zarina (38) and her 16-year-old daughter Bilquees were killed and four other members of the family injured when their house at village Zadihar collapsed following heavy rains.
In Jammu, five persons were injured in two separate incidents of roof collapse in R S Pura tehsil.
One person in Tindi Kala and four in Barihal Kajia were injured when roofs of their houses collapsed.
Meanwhile, the maximum temperature hovered around normal levels in Punjab and Haryana while humid weather conditions prevailed in the region.
Union Territory Chandigarh had a maximum of 34.2 deg C while it received negligible rainfall of 0.9 mm.
In Punjab, Amritsar and Ludhiana had a high of 34.4 deg C and 35 deg C respectively.
In Haryana, Karnal, which received rainfall of 10.4 mm, settled at 34 deg C while Narnaul had a maximum of 33.3 deg C.
In UP major rivers, including Ganga and Yamuna, continued to flow above the danger level in few districts as light to moderate rain and thunder showers occurred at isolated places over the state.
Meanwhile, few places at Rajasthan recorded scattered rainfall.
Chittorgarh, Kota recorded 22 and 2 mm respectively, according to MeT department.
