Led by the outfit's state president Surinder Dhanda, a large number of protesters assembled near National Highway 1 and set ablaze Bhagwat's effigy while raising slogans against BJP and RSS.
Addressing the protesters, Dhanda dubbed the BJP-led NDA government as 'anti-Dalit' and accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of pursuing the "hidden agenda" of RSS.
"By opposing reservation, Bhagwat has made this hidden agenda public," he said.
Claiming that reservation was the Constitutional right of Dalits, Dhanda warned that no power on earth could discontinue it.
"But for reservation, Dalits would have continued to live in dismal state of deprivations and privations", Dhanda added.
Last month, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had in an interview to Sangh mouthpiece "Organiser" and "Panchjanya" pitched for a review of the reservation policy, contending it has been used for political ends and suggesting setting up of an apolitical committee to examine who needs the facility and for how long.
