Monitoring unscheduled power cuts, may explore legal action,

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today said the government is monitoring the unscheduled power cuts in the city and will impose penalties on power distribution companies besides "exploring legal action" against them if they are found guilty.
"They (Discoms) will be held accountable and we will impose penalty on them for unscheduled power cuts. We will also inform Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission (DERC) about it and will explore what legal action can be taken against them," Kejriwal told reporters here today.
Kejriwal said he has been informed that Discoms could resort to this method in response to audit ordered by the Delhi government.

"We have ordered audit of Discoms and they do not want this. People are saying they will resort to this method," he said.
Kejriwal said to understand the pattern of power cuts in Delhi he has asked the Power department officials to collect data of area-wise power cuts, both scheduled and unscheduled, of the last one and half months and especially of the last one week.
The chief minister has asked the Discoms to provide the details of area-wise scheduled cuts for every week.
"We will put all the details regarding power cuts across Delhi for the next one week. We will also provide a number where people can complain about unscheduled power cuts. Subsequently, we will ask the companies and in case of unsatisfactory reply penalties will be imposed," Kejriwal said.

On a query regarding Delhi Congress Chief Arvinder Singh Lovely's letter regarding power cuts, Kejriwal said he has replied to him and sought his help in solving the problem.
