Monsoon on in north, 7 killed in Uttarakhand

Monsoon showers continued to lash parts of north India killing seven persons in landslides in Uttarakhand today.
In view of the water level of Rapti river in Uttar Pradesh rising above the danger mark, the Centre issued an alert cautioning authorities to be prepared.
Humidity rose to over 80 per cent in Delhi making life uneasy for people while rains in some parts of the city offered some relief.
The humidity levels were recorded between 52 and 81 per cent, according to the Met department.
The Ridge observatory recorded 1.8 mm rainfall while overcast conditions persisted in areas under Safdarjung, Palam and Ayanagar observatories.
The maximum temperature was recorded at 34.5 degrees Celsius, a notch above the normal, while the minimum was recorded at 26.2 degrees Celsius.
Seven persons, including a woman, were killed in Dehradun in Uttarakhand when three houses were buried in a landslide following heavy showers.
After the overnight rains, Dehradun awoke to a bright sunny morning today.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers occurred at a few places over Uttar Pradesh with heavy to very heavy rain at isolated places in the state in the last 24 hours.
Turtipar, Balrampur recorded the most rainfall at 9 cm, followed by Kakardharighat, Utraulla, Salempur 8 cm, Gonda, Chanderdeepghat, Nazibabad 7 cm, Sambhal, Ballia, Ghazipur, Biswan 6 cm, Bahraich, Khalilabad, Baheri, Bisalpur 5 cm, and Ayodhya, Dharuhera, Sahabad, Powayan, and Sahjahanpur 4 cm.
