Murder accused flees from police custody in Rohtak

The accused, identified as Rahul of Naya Baans village under Sampla sub-division, was arrested in connection with the murder of a former village sarpanch. He was nabbed by the Sampla police on Sunday.

Police have so far failed apprehend the escapee.

According to sources, the police had brought the accused to Rohtak from Sampla town to produce him before a court. Rahul managed to give the policemen a slip when they were waiting for the hearing in the court premises, police sources said.

Rohtak DSP Sumit Kumar, along with other senior officials rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The police also checked the video footage of the the court premises.
