Returning officer Rajender Singh announced that last date for filing the nomination for the by-election is on January 27, while the scrutiny of nomination papers will be taken up on January 28.
The by-election for Muzaffarnagar assembly constituency is scheduled for February 13 and the counting for February 16, while the result would be declared on February 18, he said.

Muzaffarnagar goes to polls along with Bikapur in Faizabad and Deoband in Saharanpur, all the constituencies previously held by the Samjawadi Party and fell vacant after the death of the respective MLAs.
