Modi couldn't douse the fire in his home state: Azam Khan

Says one who could not manage his home affairs, can not control the nation satisfactorily

Uttar Pradesh minister Azam Khan today took a dig at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accusing him of being "incapable" of managing the affairs of the nation when he "could not douse the fire in his home state Gujarat".

"One who could not manage his home affairs, can not control the nation satisfactorily," Khan said.

The state Urban Development minister was reacting on the recent pro-reservation agitation by the Patel community in Gujarat, where nine persons died in clashes with police.

"Modi needs to prove his competence and capability by dousing the fire that erupted in his home state and abstain from making tall claims regarding development," he said.

Speaking at the inauguration of Rs 1,000 crore-worth sewage treatment plant here, the Samjawadi leader also criticised Modi on his poll promises of bringing back black money and generating more employment opportunities.

"Modi is a 'Jhooth Ka Badshah' (Emperor of falsehood). He had promised to generate two crore jobs and bring back black money stashed in foreign banks as well as place Rs 15 lakhs each in everyone's pocket. How much of the promises has he fulfilled," Khan asked.

The Centre's 'Smart Cities project' also came under the attack of the controversial leader.

"Modi is ignorant of the plight of the Indian farmers. If he would have been in the knowing, he would not have gone ahead with such tall announcements (Smartcities project) that rarely contain formidable solution to the problems of the dying tillers of the land," he said.

The minister said that the UP government has taken a slew of measures for the development of Rampur (one of the beneficiaries in the Samrtcities project) much before the Union government announced the project.

He also attacked Union Minister of state Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi for ignoring his parliamentary constituency.

Naqvi has not undertaken any developmental scheme in his parliamentary constituency. Rather he and his brother have illegally possessed numerous spacious buildings in the city, Khan alleged.
