Naidu condoles death of Cho Ramaswamy

Information and Broadcasting Minister M Venkaiah Naidu today condoled the death of journalist Cho Ramaswamy, saying he always maintained the highest standards in his profession and was "brutally frank".
In his message, the minister said that he was saddened by the demise of Ramaswamy, who he described as a "great patriot, journalist, commentator and nationalist to the core."
"Ramaswamy was brutally frank and never bothered about the consequences. He maintained the highest standards in journalism," Naidu said.
He said that Ramaswamy was a good friend of his, and expressed condolences to the bereaved family.
In another message, the Editors' Guild of India also expressed grief at the death of Ramaswamy.
The Guild, which has senior journalist Raj Chengappa as its President, said that it "mourns the death of veteran editor Srinivasa Iyer Cho Ramaswamy".
Ramaswamy (82), a veteran journalist and former Rajya Sabha member, died in Chennai following illness.
He founded and edited the political magazine 'Thuglak'. Through his magazine, he guided the people of Tamil Nadu on all national and social issues and was a role model for all budding journalists.
He was known as a satirist and acted in many movies. He also featured with top actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.
