Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu today demanded that the Centre release part of fund committed to the state for developmental works following its bifurcation over 15 months ago.
Speaking to press persons here, Naidu informed that he held discussion with Union Home Ministry to look into institutional issues which arose out of "unscientific" bifurcation of the state and demanded executive decision on "immediate" basis.
"We requested the Finance Ministry to get us whatever was committed as per the act (Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014), capital money was committed, backward district development, all these money. Last month, the Prime Minister had referred the matter to Niti Ayog.
"Niti Ayog conducted a couple of meetings, and still they are yet to finalise the report. So, next week or so we are expecting. We are now pursuing that interim money at least maybe released," he said.
Union Minister of State for Science and Technology and also a TDP Parliamentarian, YS Chowdary, who accompanied the Chief Minister during the meetings, said he hoped the Centre releases at least Rs 1000 crore for developmental works in the state.
The minister said the state government approached Union Home Ministry to draw its attention towards institutional issues which arose out of bifurcation of the state.
"It is already 15 months since the state was formed. The state was bifurcated in an unscientific manner. However, so many institution issues, schedule 9, schedule 10 institutions, there is a big dispute between Telangana and Andhra.
"The act clearly mentions that within 12 months if these issues are not addressed, the Home ministry is expected to address. They are supposed to take executive decision and decide. Already three months have passed and that's why we have requested Home ministry to act immediately," Naidu said.
Naidu also informed to have called on Union Agriculture, Water Resources, Commerce, Surface Transport and Environment Ministers over range of issues relating the state.
