The deceased Mohangiri GurujiDayagiri alias Gautam Joshi was serving a life term for murder since 2004. He belonged to Avahan Akhada in Uttar Pradesh.
According to police, the toilet used by Joshi is situated on the premises of the jail hospital.
An investigating officer of the Nshik Road police station said Joshi didn't leave behind any suicide note.
"We are probing the circumstances in which he killed himself," he said.
Police have registered a case of accidental death and sent Joshi's body for postmortem.
