Naxal deputy commander killed in encounter

A 28-year-old naxal was gunned down by police in an encounter in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, a senior officer said today.
The incident occurred yesterday when a joint team comprising the personnel of district police and CRPF was on patrolling duty, said IG, Bastar Range, SPR Kalluri.
The team came under fire when it was in the jungles of Savnar village, the officer said, adding that the ultras fled after police returned the fire.
The naxal is identified as Madvi Budhu alias Sukku who was the "deputy commander" of Jan Militia for the Gangalur Area Committee.
