NC's additional general secretary and uncle of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Mustafa Kamal claimed his father accepted the "conditional" instrument of accession signed by then Maharaja of the state, Hari Singh, in the wake of raids by Pakistani tribals in Jammu and Kashmir in October 1947.
Without naming Syed Ali Shah Geelani, the National Conference leader hit out at the separatist leader adding, "Those who raise the slogans of freedom today, participated in elections at the behest of (intelligence) agencies".
