Mayor Yogender Chandolia and senior civic officials accompanying him requested Jung to write off the liability of Rs 723 crore inherited by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation from the unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi, the NDMC said.
They also sought a moratorium on repayment of all loans and interests, both plan and non-plan, for five years to enable the corporation to meet the challenges of trifurcation and development needs of people, it said in a statement.
The leaders also asked for grant-in-aid of Rs 900 crore to compensate the loss of the NDMC, which it incurred due to implementation of Unit Area Method (UAM) of property tax assessment.
The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) was trifurcated in 2012 into -- North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC).
Besides, the Mayor requested Jung to direct the officers concerned not to adjust the 'global share' of the corporation, and for immediate release of Rs 80 crore due to the municipal body as transfer duty share.
"We also informed the LG about the steps we are taking to keep the area cleaner and free from mosquito-breeding conditions. We are hopeful that the LG will heed to our requests and take appropriate action," Mayor Chandolia said.
The three leaders also appealed to Jung to direct the power distribution companies to make the payment of property tax due to NDMC totalling Rs 26.61 crore.
