The North Delhi Municipal Corporation today sought nearly Rs 7,000 crore from the Delhi government, which the civic body claimed the capital city administration has to pay it from its year of establishment till 2013-14, in different heads.
NDMC's Standing Committee Chairman, Mohan Prasad Bhardwaj also said that in year 2014-15, the Delhi government "stopped" the release of Rs 303 cr to the civic body, out of Rs 994 cr and only Rs 546 cr had been received.
He said that the South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) is utilising all the facilities and services at Civic Centre and NDMC is bearing all the expenditure on its maintenance, so the SDMC must also pay for its maintenance and rent a sum of Rs 472 cr to the NDMC.
The NDMC has an estimated expenditure of Rs 2290 cr for the financial year 2014-15 on salary and pension. On other hand it has liabilities of Rs 1,270 cr, thus total liabilities comes to Rs 3,560 cr on 31st March, 2015.
He said that if Delhi government releases the nearly Rs 7,000 cr to the NDMC, which is due, and for which a letter had been written to the Delhi Chief Minister earlier, the corporation would be able to clear all its liabilities and give momentum to the development of the city.
He also said that after the trifurcation, the former Delhi Chief Minister had promised that all the three municipal corporations would be released grant-in-aid to compensate the loss due to trifurcation. But till now "no penny" has been received form Delhi Government on this account. Delhi government only provides loan at interest of 18 per cent per annum, he claimed in a statement.
